Self Help Area Information
|
Objective: To assist individuals and families with the high cost and confusion surrounding court related actions. The easy access to the court forms and interaction with other individuals and families in the same situation will ease the extreme burden that is put upon families in these situations.
- Create Court Related Documents - The room is equipped with four internet ready computers and 1 printer. The client only pays for printing/copying per page.
- Free Access to Attorneys - Attorneys who volunteer their time, if available, will also be in the room and are available to help as many as four clients at one time. Families First has built a relationship with many Family Law Attorneys throughout King County and some in Pierce and Snohomish County. These attorneys, at their entire discretion, have provided free or low fee services to the clients that we have referred. The King County Bar Association has been contacted about utilizing Families First as one of their regular Free Attorney Clinics for South King County. No firm agreement has been reached on this exciting opportunity.
- Networking - The Self-Help Area provides a great opportunity for pro bono individuals to network with other individuals in the same situation. Additionally, these clients learn about the education and training opportunities available at Families First and other providers in the area.
